I decided to try something new and make my own smoothies for a month. It took me a while to get it right but I finally made it to my liking. Cherries are expensive in South Korea. In truth, it’s cheaper for me to buy a smoothie from Jamba Juice. But I really don’t know what ingredients are used for the smoothie shops. For my own smoothies, I kept it really simple. I bought fresh fruits and froze some of them to keep them fresh for use later. If i was in the USA, I would’ve just bought the frozen fruits that are sold in grocery stores.
I used bananas, cherries, limes, plain yogurt, honey and grapefruits. It’s a really healthy drink but it’s too costly for me to keep buying and making for myself. Plus, I totally forgot about the high sugar content in natural fruits. I will only make my own smoothies if I feel like it. Otherwise, it’s best for me to either buy a smoothie or eat the fruit by itself. Props to those of you that make your own smoothies daily!
UPDATE:
When I am living in a location where the frozen fruit is cheaper than fresh, I make frozen fruit smoothies. The Dollar Tree in USA sells bags of frozen fruit for $1. I am able to make 2-3 smoothies from 1 bag! Total of 500ml (2 cups each) per serving. I use fat free plain yogurt, and Tropicana Coco blends or Orange Juice (something low in sugar). My smoothies taste better and are much cheaper than buying from the chain smoothie stores like Smoothie King and Jamba Juice.
